John Dinga was born in Bali Gansin in Englishspeaking North-West Cameroon to farmer parents in 1946. Born under British colonization, he attended both primary and secondary schools (1953-1964) sanctioned by the award of the General Certificate of Education. With the inception of unification of French and British Cameroons at independence, he proceeded to the US for university studies, majoring first in civil engineering and mathematics before switching to medical technology and immunobiology in response to an inner call.
Following undergraduate and graduate studies at UMASS in Amherst
(1966 - 1972), he returned home to Cameroon, worked in his country’s civil service in clinical diagnosis at various hospitals and later in the Medical Research Institute. His studies and work took him to Nairobi University medical school and ILRAD, Kenya for postgraduate work. He has traveled extensively in Africa, Europe and Canada. Currently he is retired and resident in Massachusetts in the US.
